Dogwood Education Initiatives
We believe that most children learn best when they encounter new experiences through as many senses as possible. Once children have been introduced to farm concepts, we have them apply their knowledge to “real life” situations through a hands on farm experience.
More importantly, we want children to gain an understanding of the connection between land/seasons, planting/cultivating, and distributing/eating the food on tables at home.
Our final goal is to teach children what it means for food to be produced locally and sustainably. In relevance to farm animals, children that visit our farm increase their knowledge of farm animal eating cycles, behaviors and what it means to have sustainably raised animals.
We have hosted many different groups on our farm and are happy to host more!
