For families and individuals, we offer a farm share program known as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).

What is a CSA Program?

This is an exclusive membership program where you receive shares of vegetables or meats during weekly or monthly pick ups. All produce is freshly picked and grown by us, on our farm, located on Duke Farms in Hillsborough, NJ. With a CSA program, a farmer sells directly to the public instead of through numerous middlemen.

By paying a fixed amount at the beginning of a growing season, a member is entitled to pick up her or his share of the farm's output every week at a designated location.

What are the risks?

As with any CSA farmer, a CSA can be risky because of factors that are out of the farmer's control. There are times where weather (too much/little rain, hail, hurricane, etc), pests, or disease can wreak havoc. Thus, there will be times that intended crops for CSA members have simply not succeeded. This inevitably impacts what is offered in the share for the season.  Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions about this aspect of a CSA membership program.

 Why should I join?

Joining our CSA gives you a great opportunity to ensure your own consistent supply of local produce and meats, while helping to preserve agriculture in the Garden State. In addition to fresh produce, members get exclusive opportunities to take part in volunteer days at the farm, family farming events, and community farm dinners. Most importantly, super-fresh veggies grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides just taste better!

What makes your csa different?

First and foremost, we love what we do. Most produce has been harvested the morning of   your pick-up making your vegetables as fresh as possible. Although the boxed shares are convenient, our CSA is special because we allow people to come right to the barn and choose the offered produce in more of a market style. Also, we always have farmers present at pick ups to answer any additional questions you might have about the produce for that week.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up in two ways:

1. Complete the form above and a Dogwood Farms Representative will contact you within 24 hours for next steps.

Similar to our vegetable shares, you will not be able to ask for specific meats and cuts from month to month, but if one of the four meats is definitely not on your family’s menu, you can let us know and we’ll do our best to provide an appropriate substitute.

How are the animals raised?

All animals are sustainably raised by us except for the beef, which is raised by our friend, Kirk Stephens, at Vernon Valley Farm in Sussex County, NJ. Our pigs and chickens are fed certified organic grain, protein whey, and excess produce from our farm. Our lambs enjoy nothing but pasture and hay, untouched by any chemical fertilizers and pesticides. None of our animals are treated with hormones or antibiotics. Our beef farmer, Kirk is another up-and-coming young farmer who rescued a family farm and created a healthy, productive herd of cattle that is all grass-fed and free of any hormones or antibiotics.

What if I can't pick up every week?

Our CSA members will have one rain check share, which will be redeemable at the farm stand located at Duke Farms.  Please give 24 hours notice if you are unable to pick-up.

Can someone else pick up for me?

Yes, any of your friends or family can pick up your share for you as long as they can tell us who they are picking up for.  For example, if you are going out of town you can give your share to whoever is checking on your house or to one of your friends who you know will appreciate some great fresh produce.

How much produce are we talking about?

One of our weekly shares should be enough vegetables for 2-4 people, depending on their appetites.  If you cook at home at least 3-4 times a week, you will have no trouble eating it all.

If I think it will be too much, can I get a smaller share?

We only offer one size share.  In the past members have partnered with a neighbor, friend, co-worker, etc. who might be interested in splitting the share with you. You can alternate pick-up weeks, or simply split weekly shares.

Can I pick out my own share?

Since our CSA is seasonal, we only offer what is available during that time of year. However, at pick-ups we always offer several choices. For example: choose one bunch of roots among beets, radishes, and carrots, choose between hot or sweet peppers, choose one bunched green among kale, chard, and collards. Above all, we need to divvy up the week's produce into uniform shares to assure that every member gets a "fair share".

What if I am allergiC or just can't stand one of the vegetables in the share?

We will do our best to accommodate allergies and will try to offer options as much as we can, but we can't guarantee that substitutions will always be available.
