WHAT IS A C.S.A. PROGRAM?
Community Supported Agriculture
A CSA is an exclusive membership program where participants receive shares of vegetables or meats during weekly/monthly pick ups. All produce and meats (except beef) are grown and raised on Dogwood Farms in Hillsborough, NJ. The certified organic beef is raised in Pennsylvania at Sugar Hill Farm.
How is Ours DIFFERENT?
Although boxed shares are convenient, our CSA is special because we allow members to come directly to the farm and choose produce and meats in a market style. Farmers are always present at pick-ups to answer questions and offer cooking tips for items in shares. Dogwood Farms is passionate about high quality food and has personal connection with everything that we grow. This concept can't be found in a box or grocery store!
Most produce has been harvested the morning of pick-up making vegetables fresh and clean of chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or fertilizers. Dogwood Farms' meats are top quality and pasture raised without hormones or antibiotics. The difference can be tasted and enjoyed knowing that all animals were raised with care and compassion!
WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
A CSA can be risky because of factors that are out of the our control. There are times when weather, pests, or disease can wreak havoc, thus some CSA crops may not succeed. This inevitably impacts what is offered in the share for the season. To mitigate this risk we plant over 80 varieties of different vegetables and some fruits. Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions about this aspect of our CSA membership program.
